a tenuous grasp on a masterpiece
i don’t remember how it came into my lexicon, but Recorded In Orbit was one of my first favorite albums on Spotify when i got it back in 2020. writing this review was an incredible chance to transport through time back to 2020. so many nights spent sitting in my college dorm room, lights off, letting Rasun transport me through space with a jaw dropping mix of ear-catching samples, slofi beats, and soundscapes.
it had been some time since i had listened to the album ever since Rasun had remastered it later in 2020. when the remaster was released on Spotify, the original was removed. i gave it my all to try and appreciate the remaster as much as the original but i couldn’t quite get there. so, i let the album go for years in disappointment. when i came back to do this review i found that the remaster had also been unfortunately removed from Spotify. but to my delight, and hopefully yours as well, the original is still available on Bandcamp! i promise this album is worth every penny.
recommended tracks
if i were to recommend two tracks from the album, i’d recommend Never Wanna Grow Up (ft. Pink Ray) and Titan. Titan especially gives me the sensation of floating through space with a VHS-tinted view. however, i would strongly recommend listening to this album top to bottom. the tracks are all individually incredible, but the experience Rasun crafted is a masterpiece that deserves to be appreciated in the artist’s vise.
